What is Marriage for Kids...

I want to share few of the funniest but so mind blowing moments I have with kids when it comes to things where we thought only adults are the only ones who can unendingly give outrageous opinions about .....MARRIAGE.

Today, as I was driving the 2 boys I have every Tuesday from the park to their home. We passed by this apartment complex where I needed to get into their culdesac for me to be able to make a U- turn. Then after I know it, Cam, the 5 y/o boy I babysit started saying, "this was where my dad's old apartment was kim." Then I asked him.. " really, how come he had a place here Cam?" Then here is Cam's very smart and very innocent answer, "because he lived here when he was not married with my mom yet. But because when youre married Kim you have to live in one house and so when two people have each houses they have to leave their houses and live in one house. It's like that when you're married Kim." Hhhmm, and so all i have to say was, " that is right Cam." So there was my first lecture about marriage. I'm like hello Kim you were suppose to know that already why did you bother to ask.

Okay, so one regular school day where I usually have the M kids. I went to pick up Lyla and Lauren from school. As I always do, walking up the hill from their school to their home is like the catching up moments. I ask them about their day, how was their school etc. Then one time, we were walking with Lauren's friend Chloe. Lauren and Chloe are both 6 yr olds. As they go have their girl talks while walking Chloe said to me and Lauren that she will be going to her Aunt's wedding that coming weekend. Then, my ever dearest Lauren, whom i would always call the sweetest and caring girl I know started saying to her friend "Chloe, you what when Kim is going to get marry I am going to be her flower girl." Then Lauren faced me and actually gave me the look and statement that says " right Kim, Im going to be your flower girl." That moment all I can do was give her a smile and a nod.. Then next thing I know Lauren gave me the question that will forever blow my mind ,it goes like this, "Kim did you find your groom already because I cannot wait to be a flower girl?" Oh my goodness!! In my thought, I really want to give one of Lauren's dreams, to be a flower girl and I just hope that my groom could just pop right infront of us so she can go walk the isle as my flower girl. I laughed so hard that i just said, " you know what Lauren, I really, really hope I do find my groom so we can both walk the isle as a bride and you as my flower girl." It is just funny how when you're just a 6 year old you think wedding is just about wearing those beautiful wedding gowns and having the most extravagant entourage. How I would love to just say to Lauren that I hope that finding your groom is just easy and fun as playing with your Littlest Pet Shop or playing with the Play Doh. But, what I will always love is the sparks that kids have when they talk about their dreams. And how they get to be solution oriented just to have that one thing that they have been wanting.

It gives my heart so much joy and laughters of course to share these things I get to experience with the kids I have everyday. They teach me so much lesson not only about life but love as well. Now, atleast i get to remember that when a person gets married she or he has to leave his home and live together with her or his partner. Isn't so funny because not all couples actually believe or do this. So this is the lesson number 1 from a 5 year old. For all the couples who are planning to get marry or who are married. Make sure you leave your home and live together with your partner. As for my darling Lauren, who always has believed in the beauty of fairy tales ending. She gives me the drive to never lose hope to find my groom not only so she can be my flower girl on my wedding day but to truly have that heart again to dream big for myself that I am worthy to find my groom of my dreams who will be my groom everyday for the rest of my life.

So to all you my loves... keep on believing in the magic of love.. whether youre married or not. Love is your Color .. it makes you shine!--KR
